Questions, answered straight

If something here doesn't match what you find at launch, that's a bug in our writing — tell us.

Do I need to buy a special device?
No. Daybreak runs on the phones, tablets, and computers you already own. Prop up an old tablet in the kitchen for a family calendar wall, or just open it in any browser. There's no dedicated display to purchase.
Is Daybreak available now?
Not yet — Daybreak is launching soon. Join the waitlist to get first access and to lock in founding-family pricing.
What can Daybreak do today?
A shared, color-coded family calendar (week and agenda views) with recurring events, all-day events, birthdays, and the local weather forecast; meal planning with saved favorites and full recipes you can read in large type while you cook; grocery lists plus multiple shared checklists; chore tracking with reward points kids can redeem; a family photo wall that can act as a kitchen screensaver; and a shared whiteboard for notes. It imports your Google Calendar, syncs across devices, and keeps working offline.
What's not ready yet?
We're being straight about this: reminders and push notifications, a month view, and native iOS/Android apps are still on the way. Today Daybreak offers week and agenda views and installs as an app through your browser.
How much will it cost?
Daybreak will be a subscription. We're finalizing founding-family pricing and will announce it at launch. Waitlist members get first access and the founding rate.
Can kids earn rewards for doing chores?
Yes. Give each chore a point value and children earn those points when they check it off. Your family defines a rewards catalog — screen time, a treat, an outing — and kids redeem their points for what they've earned. It turns chores into something kids actually want to finish.
Can I save recipes in Daybreak?
Yes. Save full recipes with ingredients and step-by-step instructions, add your own by hand, or have Daybreak draft one from a meal idea. When it's time to cook, open the recipe in a full-screen, large-type view that's easy to read from across the kitchen.
Does Daybreak show the weather?
Yes. Set your location once and Daybreak shows current conditions and a multi-day forecast right alongside your calendar, so a glance at the family wall tells you whether today needs a coat or an umbrella.
Is my family's data private?
Daybreak is a hosted service. Optional integrations like Google or Apple Calendar are off until you turn them on, and sensitive items such as calendar credentials are encrypted at rest. We don't sell your data.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes. Sign in on any device and everything stays in sync. It keeps working offline and catches up automatically when you're back online.
Which calendars can I bring in?
Google Calendar import works today. Apple Calendar (CalDAV) support is in progress. You can also keep events directly in Daybreak without connecting anything.
How is this different from a family calendar display?
Most family-calendar products are built around a screen you buy. Daybreak is just the software — it runs on devices you already have, so there's nothing extra to purchase and nothing to be locked into a single piece of hardware.
When will the native apps be available?
We're actively building native iOS and Android apps. In the meantime, Daybreak installs as an app on any device straight from your browser, works offline, and syncs across your household.
